Community stories on film
Listening to the people who make a place.
An Arts Council of Northern Ireland feature documented Tommy’s online film series with Artsawonder. Through filming, singing and conversation, he explored the work of people including drum major Alan McBride, arts-hub organisers Jenna Stevenson and Wendy Graham Hanna, drum-maker Damien McKeown and Bronagh Kelly, who shared her mother’s poetry.
Listening to creative lives
The series follows people whose creative work takes different forms. Alan McBride brings the experience of a five-times world champion drum major. Damien McKeown’s work introduces the making of drums. Tommy’s role includes filming, singing and listening, allowing those encounters to shape each story.
Spaces for art and voices across generations
Jenna Stevenson and Wendy Graham Hanna appear through their work establishing and running an arts-hub shop. Bronagh Kelly shares her mother’s poetry, bringing a family’s words into the series. Together, the subjects connect public performance with less visible work that sustains creativity in a community.
Discover the series
The Arts Council of Northern Ireland introduced the films in its September 2023 arts listing and linked to Artsawonder’s media collection. That feature is the starting point for exploring the series and the people who took part.
